This statement is definitely one of my mantras. I always try to feed my soul as much as I can. In my opinion, the soul is the deepest connection you have to the conscious part of yourself. It’s the time when you are present in the moment you’re in instead of flooding your mind with thoughts.

For me, that time is when I am creative. When I feed my soul creatively… I am at peace. My mind isn’t wandering about yesterday or tomorrow… I am completely present. It’s actually a beautiful feeling when you realize you haven’t thought of anything and you’re just enjoying the moment you’re in. That’s what feeding your soul does. I feel there are a lot of ways you can feed your soul.

Creatively

You can be creative in a number of ways. The possibilities are endless. For me, it’s sewing, writing, crafting, interior design, DIY projects, recording songs, and more. Try tapping into yourself creatively.

Spiritually

This is a good one for me. When I connect with my higher power, it’s an indescribable feeling. Whether I am talking, meditating and sometimes writing… it feeds my soul tremendously.

Reading

I have always loved reading which is probably why I want to start an online book club. Getting into a good book that I can’t put down is an exciting feeling. To me, a good book is like meeting a new friend and I’m learning about their story. Sometimes I like it better than watching TV. I love novels and self-help books but I also love educating myself. People make fun of me because I have books on vitamins, food, religious practices, psychology, history and more. I love to stay well rounded.

Nature

Now, this doesn’t feed my soul as much as some of the other things because although I love beautiful scenery, I find it makes me think a lot and that’s what I try to avoid at times, however, I know a lot of people who love it. For example, my mom loves to walk in a park or sit near the water.

New York City

You might have to be a New Yorker to understand this one but New York City definitely feeds my soul. Places like Harlem and Brooklyn are so cultural how could it not. I also love the Bronx, Queens, and Westchester for different reasons. NYC just has a uniqueness that can’t be duplicated.

Many More Ways

Other ways to feed your soul could be spending time with loved ones, exercising, listening to music, dancing, painting, etc. Whatever way you choose to do it is great as long as it’s positive. If you’re unsure of how to do it, just think… When are you at peace the most? Where are you? What are you doing? Who are you with? When you find out… do it as much as you can and never forget to…
